MEMBERS ONLY · PAPAMOA HILLS
SUMMERHILL MTB PARK
Nestled in the Papamoa Hills, Summerhill is a working sheep, cattle and forestry farm that is home to some of the best trails in the Bay. Around 30 km of trails from Grade 3 to 5, rolling to steep, winding through native and exotic forest. Not ready for the big stuff? The new skills park is the place to sharpen up first.
The trails at Summerhill are for members only. Your fees go straight into building and maintaining them, so it is money well spent.
Getting there: 319 Reid Road, Pāpamoa Hills, about 11 km southeast of Tauranga. Head out on Welcome Bay Road, turn right onto Reid Road and follow it 3 km uphill. Look for the sign and carpark on your left. Toilets on site.
- Obey all trail signs and ride in the marked direction
- Close all gates securely behind you, every single time
- Give way to walkers and be considerate of others
- Strictly no dogs anywhere on the property
- Riding with your dog? Head to Ōropi Grove instead
REOPENED 2026 · GRADE 2 TO 6
ŌROPI GROVE MTB PARK
Tauranga's longest-serving mountain bike park is back and better than ever. Ōropi Grove reopened in February 2026 after an essential tree harvest by Tauranga City Council, and we took the chance to lead a full rebuild and refresh of the tracks during the closure.
On Tauranga City Council land, Ōropi Grove is a true playground, with cross-country, downhill and freeride terrain, purpose-built jumps and drops, and tracks from Grade 2 (easy, family-friendly) all the way to Grade 6 (extreme).
Getting there: entry points at both Ōropi Road and Joyce Road. Main access is 3 km up Ōropi Road from the SH29 roundabout. Grade 2 trails connect both sides, so there is no need to ride on the road.
- Ride within your limits at all times
- Follow all trail signage
- Stay on designated trails
- Dogs welcome, please pick up after them
THESE TRAILS DON'T BUILD THEMSELVES
WORKING BEES
Our trails are built and maintained by volunteers who give up a lot of their own time to keep this place rideable. We are always keen for more hands, whether you are handy with a shovel or just keen to give back. Working bees run regularly, so follow us on Facebook to find out when the next one is on.
One rule that matters: never build or modify trails yourself. Always get permission from the club and the landowners first. No exceptions.
