MEMBERSHIP FAQ
Why do I need to join a club just to ride?
Summerhill MTB Park requires users to hold insurance and contribute to land use costs. The club handles all of that, including trail maintenance, for one of the lowest membership rates in the country. Add in events, coaching and social rides and membership pays for itself pretty quickly.
What counts as a family?
A family membership covers two adults and two juniors (17 and under), so compared with buying individually you effectively get one adult and one junior free.
What if our family has more than two kids or two adults?
No problem. Any extras are charged at the standard individual rate on top of the family membership, and you still get your free adult and junior baked in. Got an unusual combination like three kids and one adult? Just get in touch and we will sort it out for you.
Can I buy a day pass?
Yes. Day passes come as a 3-day pass you can use on any three days you choose, so if the weather turns you are not locked in. Prices are $20 adult, $15 junior, $35 family.
What is HivePass?
HivePass is the app and website we use to manage memberships. Through it you can join, renew, access your digital membership card and unlock member discounts. It works on a phone or a computer, whichever suits.
My kids don't have an email address. How do I sign them up?
Two options: add them as a piggyback account (no email needed), or use a Gmail alias like yourname+child@gmail.com, which gives each child a unique address while everything still lands in your inbox. We generally recommend the alias route, and it is easy to update later.
Can I switch between adult and family membership?
Yes. HivePass converts the remaining value of your current membership pro-rata to the new rate and adjusts your expiry date, with no upfront payment. If you have an auto-renewing subscription you will need to turn that off before switching. Get in touch and we will walk you through it.
Can I bring my dog?
Dogs are welcome at Ōropi Grove, please pick up after them. Dogs are not permitted at Summerhill, which is a working farm with livestock on site.
Does the club offer coaching?
Yes. The club has an exclusive arrangement with DirtCraft for coaching, events and junior development programmes at both Summerhill and Ōropi. They do a great job that helps grow the club.
