Summerhill Skills Track Open Day - THIS SATURDAY
summerhill-skills-track-open-day
TUESDAY 24 JANUARY 2012
OFFICIAL TRACK OPENING & NATIONAL DIRT JUMP SERIES
Come up to Summerhill THIS SATURDAY 28th January from 10.00am and ride the new Skills Track and watch NZ's top Dirt jumpers compete in the 2nd round of the National Series. Papamoa College along with 'Friends of Summerhill', Johnny Sanderson from Avanti Plus Mt and Kris and his crew from Cycle Obsession have developed this awesome track aimed at junior and intermediate MTB riders and dirt jumpers. It's a lot of fun and a great place for kids(of all ages) to develop their skills. It is gold coin entry with proceeds going back into Summerhill and food and drink will be available.
WORK CONTINUING ON SKILLS TRACK... YOU CAN HELP!
Kris (Cycle Obsession) and the 'Friends of Summerhill' are looking for helping hands (and feet) to finish this area off. So if you have some spare time and want to help out give Kris a bell.

TECT Park: January Update

TUESDAY 24 JANUARY 2012
TECT ALL TERRAIN PARK UPDATE
Sorry its been a bit quiet on the news front from up at the park but things are still progressing! There is a brand spanking new shelter up at the hub and a new trail being finished off. The shelter has been put in by the councils and needs some staining. The new trail starts at the hub and heads north and does a loop back around to finish near the Uno trail, it has been funded thru MTBTauranga memberships so get your memberships in and we can do more trails! The trail is called Kereru and is being completed by the trail coordinator Paul, hes great and is keen to pass on his knowledge. We plan to have the new digger up at the park in the next month or so and we are planning a lot of work and will be looking at funding and sponsorship. We need a keen administrator type person to help with applications and to keep things moving. We are planning a muck-in on the 12-13th February, staining the shelter and finishing off the Kereru trail so book it in please. Keep on riding! Cheers, Marty

TUESDAY 24 JUNUARY 2012
GET UP TO SUMMERHILL FOR A WORKING BEE & GIVE SOMETHING BACK
This month (January 2012):
SUNDAY 22 is scheduled in as working bee day. (Auckland Anniversary Weekend coincides end of month... never a good turn out)
Ongoing projects:
- Weedeating (Ongoing, anytime, everywhere at this time of year. Last summer we had up to 12 people whacking!)
- Mojo bridge track completion, (It's the bridge to nowhere at the moment. 10 folks could knock out that final dig. Come on Mojo users step up).
- Challenge area clean-up, stormy weather has played its part all over
- The trail network needs TLC.

REMINDER: Skills track Opening January 28, plus Dirt Jam!
Go away Rain! Cheers, Karl
